Pommanders
My mom is making the pommanders for the aisle. The yellow is actually much darker than the picture shows. We bought the shepherd's hooks, silk flowers and ribbon from Hobby Lobby at 50% off. The shepherd's hooks are much more sturdy than others I have found, and could actually hang pots after the ceremony.

Food
Ahhh! DIY food? Are we crazy? Maybe a little bit. My dad barbecues a lot, and worked in a restaurant for years. The catering bill was just a little too high for our budget, and we found that we could save a lot. Friends of our s will be helping out by replenishing food, and guests will help themselves. I'm hoping no one will miss those pushy waiters who never give you enough food. It will probably be more stressful, but I believe it will be worth the money we save.
We are so blessed that Val Vista Lakes has a full service kitchen, and they are very flexible and accommodating for their self caterers.

It's not completely DIY, but we will be hiring an independent licensed bar tender to serve the beverages we purchase. We plan on keeping the menu simple with a beer keg, wine, a signature cocktail, water and old fashioned sodas.
